Aeration Systems
Twister offers two types of aeration systems:
Twistaire for Hopper Bottom Bins
Free Flo Aeration for Flat Bottom Bins
Twistaire Aeration System
Every Twister hopper comes pre-cut for the installation of our Twistaire aeration system. You can install the system when the bin is first erected or at any time after. It is a simple matter of bolting the components in place; there is no cutting or welding involved.
Twister aeration systems are available as optional equipment for unsurpassed performance in natural air-drying and aeration situations. The full round louvered tube placement in the hopper gives complete air circulation to the entire bin.
Free Flo Aeration System
It is widely believed that a full floor air system will provide the most uniform airflow through the grain, but this is not often the case. Grain in the bin tends to settle with the coarser grain near the walls and the fine grain in the centre. Air finds the path of least resistance to flow through the grain. Since the coarser grain is near the wall, the air will find a lower resistance path near the wall. The Twister Free Flo Aeration floor is centrally located & square configuration that provides airflow that is equal throughout the bin. This allows for the most efficient airflow through the grain.
The Twister Free Flo arrangement is easy to install. There are no chairs needed to support the flooring so it is not necessary to finish the bottom of the air pit perfectly. The Free Flo formwork simply bolts together and the concrete is poured around it. The supports are poured into the pit bottom and remain securely in place to support a perfectly level floor. The Free Flo formwork comes pre-punched and tagged for easy assembly. The system is designed in such a way that makes it possible for anyone to produce a perfect job on the first try.
Dry and condition your grain with natural air, the most economical system yet designed. Free Flo bolts together and is poured right into your foundation. There is no need to worry about the finish on the pit bottom because a cast in beam is used instead of the troublesome chair supports used in other pits.
Assemble, level and place concrete. It's as easy as that!!
Understanding Air Flow
Temperature changes due to changing seasons can cause moisture to migrate within your bin. Moisture can migrate through your grain, even when it is cold outside. Moisture can gather at the top of the grain causing it to spoil, and harming your profits. Aeration equipment can prevent this from happening and save your investment from spoiling.
Grain drying equipment can be used as either an aeration system or a natural air-drying system. The basic difference between grain aeration and natural air drying is that aeration is used to maintain the temperature and moisture of the grain and natural air drying is used to change the moisture of the grain. The main difference between the two is the amount of airflow moving through the stored grain.
The Twister Aeration systems provide insurance against crop spoilage at an affordable price.
