All grain is drawn down into the under floor auger through a centre hopper, until a reverse cone remains, with no grain in the cone in the middle of the bin and grain remaining which slopes up to a high point at the bin walls. When the centre hopper can no longer draw grain into the under floor auger, the sweep is uncovered by first opening the side hoppers and drawing grain into the under floor auger through these side hoppers. When the side hoppers have created a reverse cone from the remaining grain, the sweep clutch is engaged and the sweep auger begins to circle the bin, drawing grain into the hopper in the centre of the bin, where it is transported out of the bin by the under floor auger.
While the system remains in the bin, it is operated from outside the bin. The powerhead, located outside supplies all of the power for both the under floor auger and the sweep auger. Power can be supplied through the horizontal powerhead with either electric or hydraulic motors.
The U-Trough Unloading system has a rack-and-pinion gate, which allows for smooth control of the gate opening. The gearbox shifter is engaged from outside of the bin, providing a safe and convenient location for the operator to control the equipment. The horizontal powerhead offers the advantage of more capacity, less required power, less maintenance and the fact that it is more economical to purchase and run.
Once the grain has been drawn down sufficiently to uncover the sweep, the sweep clutch is engaged and the sweep circles the bin to clean out the remaining grain.
